Limit mining companies in the Philippines

The Philippines is considered as the fifth most mineral-rich in the world for gold, nickel, copper, and chromite. About 30 million hectares of land areas in the Philippines is deemed as possible areas for metallic minerals. But, only a small percentage (1.4%) has been covered by mining permits. And the mining tax is low at 2% for metallic and non-metallic minerals.
However, because of this so called, "mining" which greatly increased the economic status of the Philippines, there are also an increase to the destruction of the natural resources and death of people in the Philippines. As the miners dig for minerals, it also dig for the graves of people and other living organisms. It brings negative effects such as landslides (erosion), environmental destruction, toxicity, pollution, and health risks. For example, when they conduct coal mining on a mountain they not only destroy our source of livelihood but produce side effects. Because of the some other living organisms in that mountain have no shelter and food anymore (loss of biodiversity). It releases toxic materials, tailings, which are usually go to the ocean through other bodies of water like rivers. And these kill many living organisms or sea creatures in the ocean.
The huge impact of this mining that put our Mother Earth at stake, is the Global Warming. Burning of fossil fuels emit greenhouse gases which burn holes in the atmosphere. Depleted ozone allows Ultraviolet rays to penetrate atmosphere and descend upon the Earth in extremely dangerous quantities. Fossil fuels are the major energy source that are being used in the world today, but then again, these are non-renewable resources. If this continue to increase, this would lead us to the, what we call, "End of the World".
Before that happened, limiting mining companies (its permits and new contracts), would be such a big help in preventing the chaos. Mining companies must obey their social responsibilities and so illegal mining companies should be terminated. There are also natural ways in acquiring energy, especially renewable resources, such as solar energy, wind energy, tidal energy, geothermal energy, and most widely used is biomass. See? There are many ways to save our Mother Earth through renewable resources. Why can't rich people invest and engage in this kind of business rather than mining business? The purpose of mining is to extract minerals from our Mother Earth for the benefits of people and society. But, what's the sense of doing so when people and the environment are slowly dying? In what particular thing would it serve? For our greediness? And since they are non-renewable, they are limited and don't last.
