On Wednesday 19th January, the Goringhaicona Khoi Khoin Indigenous Traditional Council and the Observatory Civic Association will be in the High Court seeking an interdict to stop the construction at the River Club which threatens to irrevocably destroy the intangible heritage of the sacred site and contravene numerous environmental sustainability policies.

We have been threatened, intimidated and warned to stop speaking out. We are being falsely accused of all kinds of miscreant behaviour by parties who will seemingly stop at nothing to get their way. But we will not back down because we stand for the truth and we stand for justice.

If you are in Cape Town and you would like to support us, we will be placarding along the Liesbeek Parkway on the 17th and 18th at 7.30am and 4.30pm for an hour on both days. Please join our placard demonstration. Meet at the outdoor gym at the Durban Rd / Liesbeek Parkway intersection in Mowbray at either 7.15am or 4.15pm for either of those sessions, which will happen on both Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th January.

We believe the High Court judge will consider our arguments to be rational and based on the evidence and will put a stop to the construction so that the High Court can review the decisions in question that have allowed a private developer and the City and Provincial authorities to destroy a sacred floodplain.

We need your financial support to pursue this court challenge. Please consider assisting us with the legal fees. You can contribute at our fundraising site.
