On Wednesday, May 23, 2018 a Kreshay Monique Thomas Caswell teacher at Jefferson Davis High School, Montgomery, Alabama video recorded a male student making derogatory statements including using the N-word, bullying, and intimidating, harassing, and committing child abuse.  Although the teacher herself is African American we will not allow any adult to bully a child and video record it for their own personal agenda.  Insult over injury, another Black male teacher was in the classroom teaching the student however, he laughed which makes him culpable in the actions of harassment, intimidation and unprofessional behavior from a teacher.  It is our understanding that Ms. Caswell was not his teacher during this time and came to the classroom to engage in this cyberbullying, discriminatory, intimidating behavior and because Mr. Hodges did not at any point intercede to stop it we ask that he be suspended without pay for a period of no less than three months.  We demand that Kreshay Thomas Caswell's teaching certificate TCH#:KMT-0040-0299 Cert:2 be revoked.  We make these demands under the following Federal, State, and Montgomery County BOE Board Policies such as Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. 2000d et seq, FERPA violation, Alabama Code § 16-23-5 (1975), and Administrative Code rule 290-3-2-.34 (2011), the State Superintendent of Education has the authority to refuse to issue, suspend, revoke, or impose other appropriate sanctions upon any certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education when the holder has been guilty of immoral conduct or unbecoming or indecent behavior. , MPS Board Anti-Discrimination Policy and the professional conduct of teachers.  We ask that the Board have the investigation completed by the MPS BOE Personnel Meeting on June 27, 2018 and that Kreshay Monique Thomas Caswell is terminated on that date and David Hodge also is suspended without pay for 3 months.  We demand that the public is made aware of their findings and that the student is made whole through punitive compensation.  We the undersign make these demands not only for this student but for any student who has had to endure bullying from teachers which demean, degrade, discriminate and violate a child.
