Hello, my name is Carrigan and I am a senior at West Florence High School in Florence, SC. Since I was a freshman we have had a dress code that was "enforced". Our shorts are supposed to be finger tip length but, in south carolina the august heat can reach anywhere from the 80s to the upper 90s, even into the 100s. We aren't asking to wear "booty" shorts and tube tops. We simply just want to be able to wear norts. Nike Atheltic shorts are nothing more than that. They aren't showing off anyone's curves or attracting attention. Girls constantly get punished and have to follow so many codes because God forbid if a boy were to look twice at us. We just want to wake up, roll out of bed and wear norts and a tshirt. Our school spends more time condemning girls than actually focusing on the safety and well being of the students.
