This is important as I,and many others that I converse with,are against the barbaric slaughter of animals according to Islamic codes. We the undersigned choose NOT to eat Halal,and see it as being against OUR human rights by having it forced upon us. Many supermarkets sell unlabelled Halal meat, much of it as cast off, or Haram. Restaurants & other food outlets also follow this practice, with Halal being sold in places such as Subway, KFC, Nando's, various pub chains, Pizza Express and Gregg's to name but a few, all without the customer being informed as such. That also goes against the religious rights of non Muslims, as we are not permitted to eat food that has been sacrificed to a higher power - today we class that as 'modern idolatry'. We do not live in an Islamic country,so why should we be forced to eat meat that is slaughtered in accordance with Islamic practices of cruelty? One that says animals should be killed by having their carotid artery sliced open and left to bleed out in agony. This would also make it possible to prosecute slaughterhouses that use these methods,as Halal butchers are currently immune from prosecution on the grounds of 'religious freedom'. And despite an EU ruling from 2010,stating that it is compulsory for Halal food to be labelled,I still have yet to see this enforced. If people that see this petition agree with me,and wish for the cruel,barbaric & inhumane treatment of animals stopped during slaughter then please sign and share this.
