I’m writing to share a short update on the fabulous progress we have made on the Stop Sea Blasts campaign and to ask if you would please click this link to email your MP in response to recent developments.

Firstly, I would like to thank you so much for your incredible efforts to support the marine environment by signing my petition and say thank you to the many people who have shared our campaign on social media and with your local MPs.

Last week, we were fortunate to bring the campaign to Parliament and MPs from across the political divide debated how detonating unexploded munitions harms marine creatures. We were so pleased to hear so many MPs raise the number of letters sent to them from campaign supporters across the country. We were very disappointed, however, by the Government Minister’s response, which felt both lukewarm and indifferent to the suffering of our marine life. While the Minister accepted there was more to be done to protect sea creatures from underwater noise, the Government offered no answer to when they would issue guidance on stopping sea blasts.

I am now asking again that you help us to raise this with your constituent MP, and urge them to push the Government to provide an answer to this crucial question. We know that there is an effective alternative to sea blasts, and we know that the longer this devastating practice continues, the more harm will be done.
