No school fines for terminal illness children’s family holidays

No school fines for terminal illness children’s family holidays
The Issue
Memories of family holidays are a precious part of many of our childhoods, and for children with life limiting illnesses, like our son Joshua who has the devastating condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, every chance to make those memories is even more important.
There needs to be leniency with granting leave from school, not even just for the sufferer themselves but their family members as they are just as affected; they have to sit and watch someone they love with all their heart suffer immensely to a merciless disease that will not stop until it claims their loved ones life
Former BBC Royal Correspondent, Jennie Bond states “Families facing such difficult circumstances - their lives dominated by a draining schedule of daily care – will be looking forward to the prospect of being able to take their desperately poorly children away for a holiday. They can’t come back from these holidays to face a battle with either their child’s school or local council. A greater degree of understanding, empathy and common sense must be applied here.”
Will you help us get the Department For Education to reconsider.
Thank you
