📣 You’ve Signed the Petition - What’s Next?

Now we need to show up in person. A strong public presence and vocal opposition will be critical during the decision making process. 

Key Dates: 

• November 21 - Deadline for Rockville zoning staff to compile citizen feedback.
• December 1 -  Mayor and Council vote on a draft of the Zoning Text Amendment to allow high density development next to New Mark Commons.

Take the Next Step: 

1. Attend a Mayor & Council Meeting

• When: 6:30 p.m. - Nov 17 and Dec 1
• Where: Rockville City Hall - 111 Maryland Ave (parking on-site and on Vinson St.)
• Why: Being present sends a strong community message! Please tell us if you can attend.

2. Speak During Community Forum

• Topic: Share your concerns - density, traffic congestion, safety, infrastructure/emergency services, stormwater, environmental, loss of tree canopy/wildlife, school capacity, historic preservation, neighborhood impacts, etc. Use petition talking points. 
• Time: 3 minutes max

3. Sign Up to Speak

• Sign up before 10 a.m. the day of the meeting, or sign in when you arrive before 6:30 p.m.

4. Write Individual Letters

• Personal letters are powerful.
• Contact the Mayor, City Council, and Planning Commission to state your opposition on
  RMD-25 rezoning.

5. Spread the Word

• Encourage neighbors who haven’t signed to add their names. Every signature strengthens our position. Share the link or QR code from the petition.

We updated the petition title to make it clearer and more effective for volunteers knocking on doors and handing out flyers. Please use the updated title when speaking with neighbors.
