Our neighborhood group was notifed only hours ago - that Tampa City Council will entertain a motion to delay our Land Use public hearing for hours tonight on the Magnolia hotel complex (TA/CPA 24-11).
The project is #1 on the published agenda. We're scheduled to start at 5:01 pm. But administrators are considering moving four rezoning hearings ahead of our Land Use project. That means our public comments most likely will not start until 8 pm or later.
This despite allowing the project applicant to postpone this hearing 5 times.
Now - you may think - it's only a few hours instead of months. But it shows a trend of disrespect to neighbors who are opposing a project that is favored by those in power and others who rub elbows with CEOs.
This disrupts our plans for expert speakers and citizens who care enough to volunteer their time. If council votes for this motion - IT WOULD BE UNFAIR AND UNACCEPTABLE.
There's little time, but please email tampacitycouncil@tampagov.net that such a motion is unfair and reflects on their committment to neighborhoods and regular folks.
