Tampa City Council will decide the future of Hyde Park Spanishtown Historic District's neighborhood. KEEP IT RESIDENTAL.

Above, a map outlines the full 2 acre block where developers propose a 7-story hotel complex with 2 restaurants, 29 condos/townhouses, 271 car garage, 4,000 sq ft rental venue, rooftop pool and bar, spa, gym and business offices.

Council votes Feb. 12 at 5:01 pm on whether to keep the historic neighborhood land use Residential or change it to Commercial (CMU-35) - a Palm Beach developer request.

That idea has been found inconsistent by the Hillsborough County Planning Commission, the professional staff at both the county and city. That means they recommend City Council DENY THE REQUESTED LAND USE CHANGE for case number (TA/TPA 24-11).

Please take these three steps to SUPPORT KEEPING HISTORIC HYDE PARK RESIDENTIAL:

1- SIGN OUR PETITION and recruit others to sign. It's an excellent way to show council that you support residential neighborhoods and more thoughtful development.

2- SEND EMAILS to Tampa City Council members referencing TA/TPA 24-11 project: TampaCityCouncil@tampagov.net

3- SHOW UP at the Land Use Public Hearing on Feb. 12, Thursday, at 5:01 pm at Tampa City Council chambers. Volunteers are needed to attend to show support by sheer numbers. You do not have to speak. You can volunteer your minutes to other expert speakers.

Email me, a resident living steps from this proposed development with questions or more information: bobbieobrien23@gmail.com

Thank you and keep sharing. It's important to STOP THIS LAND USE CHANGE - KEEP OUR HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOODS RESIDENTIAL.
