Demonetization – 10 things I will do to help my country, even if I may oppose the move
The Issue
Even Nitish Kumar and Navin Panaik have not opposed demonetization in principle. India is going through a challenging phase. We all need to be more objective and think keeping the overall welfare of the country in mind. Here is a pledge we have taken.
As a responsible citizen and as a good human being, I hereby commit:
- Not to bring my political viewpoints in my way to doing the right thing in a given situation without compromising on my right to protest in other manners
- Not to withdraw and hoard unnecessary new currency and increase the queue
- To continue to go out and spend using all banking and digital facilities like credit card, PayTM,etc.
- To help and guide my employees/colleagues/community members (like giving short term small advances to them out of the valid currency that I may have)
- If I am forced to stand in the queue and come across desperate situations like elderly people suffering or running the risk of life threat or cash starved tourists/foreigners etc., to do my best to support and save such people, as the case may be
- Not to break law and rules with regard to various situations like maximum withdrawal, standing in the queue, etc.
- Not to succumb to the short term pressure if I can see the long term gains or if I am convinced it will now be futile and disastrous to abandon the process mid-way through
- Not to offer manipulative advice or inspire or indulge into further corruption for financial gains from others, and restrict myself to act the way any prudent and normal Indian (including the members of the ruling party) would have acted in a compulsive situation
- Not to lose my own judgment and continue to stand for what is right
- To identify and highlight the painful issues and challenges in a constructive manner so that necessary course corrections can be made without indulging in violence of any manner.
