Open Primaries
Jul 11, 2016
The Republican Convention begins next week, but the GOP Rules Committee is scheduled to meet THIS Thursday -- which is our best chance to deliver our petition. That means we have only THREE days left with which to send as strong a message as possible to the Grand Ole Party, before we head to Cleveland to deliver the petition to the people in the GOP who matter.
We know that the Republicans are trying to actually close the primaries in states that currently have open primaries, and make the process even more restrictive. We are doing everything we can to stop them.
Hundreds of volunteers across the country have been working around the clock on this campaign since it began a little over a month ago, and we intend to do everything within our power to make sure that the Republican delegates hear our cries for effective governance and a representative political system. Much of our work over the past two years will culminate at the conventions, and it is absolutely essential that we are as organized and united as possible when the moment finally comes to deliver the petition.
Regardless of how you feel about the Republican Party, it is important that every voter has the ability to vote for any candidate they choose, no matter their party affiliation. It takes two to tango, and in order for all voters to have equal ballot access, BOTH parties need to adopt open primaries.
We will be on the ground, at the RNC Rules Committee meeting delivering the petition, but we need to make as big an impact as possible.
Please share this petition with your family and friends, and anyone else you know who is disillusioned by our political system and fed up with the way that our country is governed.
Thank you for your support,
Al Benninghoff
Legislative Director
