Senate Bill 2573 has passed the Senate. It’s Assembly Companion bill A4084 is scheduled for a hearing in the Assembly Higher Education Committee on Thursday, October 27, 2016. The members of that Committee will have the opportunity to vote in favor of advancing the Senate Bill and Senate Amendments. Once the bill is passed in the AHI Committee, I expect it to also have a hearing in the Assembly Appropriations Committee. All other assembly members not in either committee will have to cast a vote on the bill when it is brought to the full assembly. With that said, RIGHT now, before Thursday, we need to get as many emails out to EVERY Assembly Higher Education Committee Member as we can. There are only a total of 8 of them. I have attached a list for you to use, containing their telephone numbers and email addresses. It would be great if everyone can make some calls as well--YOUR VOICE, heard over a phone is immeasurable. Once it passes the Higher Education Assembly, then we need to start sending emails out to the members of the Assembly Appropriations Committee--and, if it passes there...THEN we need to EMAIL every single other Assembly Member.
