Demand UTS Withdraw from Weapons Manufacturing Expo

The issue

From the 4th - 6th of November, the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition will be held at the ICC in Darling Harbour. This is an event hosted by the NSW Government in order to bring heads of defence companies together in order to pitch their wares and discuss the future of the Australian war industry.  The companies represented at the conference are the very same who have spent the last 2 years profiting immensely from the slaughter in Gaza, such as Elbit Systems, Honeywell and Boeing to name a few.

Shamefully, representatives of UTS will also be in attendance and will have an information stall set up at this weapons expo. Presumably this is being done to  deepen UTS' pre-existing relationship with the defence sector and show off the defence-related research which UTS already carries out via its many aerospace 'innovation labs'. We the undersigned oppose these university ties to the war machine, and we call on the Vice Chancellor Andrew Parfitt to have UTS immediately withdraw from the Indo Pacific Maritime Exposition.

Students for Palestine UTS will also be attending a blockade of the expo on the morning of the 4th, meeting 6:30 outside the ICC and we encourage all signees to join! Follow this link for more info!
