Only 24 hours to go, to decide the fate of our drivers. The final vote is 11:00 AM tomorrow and we’ll have an answer by 3:00 PM. Many of you have asked questions concerning the Teamsters contract. While I’ve tried to answer or comment on your posts, it’s not always possible to do. With that, I thought I would provide some details for you.

This contract, if ratified will finally provide relief from the HEAT, which, as you know, has been my goal for the last 5 years. The contract will also provide better working conditions. A Labor Management Committee will be established to evaluate the HEAT provisions in place. That committee will oversee if UPS is complying to keep our drivers safe. All trucks will be retrofitted with induction vents and heat shields for the Cargo immediately. Drivers will be provided with fans for the cab until the rollout of the AC beginning 2024, with the new fleets in the hottest states first. Water fountains are to be in every hub, and in working condition.  Management is to provide enough water for EVERY worker.

Additionally, NO worker will be disciplined for calling 911! Imagine being disciplined when you’re calling with an emergency. Honestly, you can’t make these things up…

After 5 years, with 24 hours to go, I hope and pray to share AC is finally here.
