The Issue

As a Black American, experiencing injustice is, unfortunately, a frequent reality. When politicians make grand promises of transparency but choose silence on critical issues such as racial injustice, it becomes difficult to entrust them with our votes and our future.

Recently, the silence and lack of transparency from our federal government during protests has been deafening. Protests erupt across our nation, spotlighting systemic injustices and demanding change. Yet, despite the loud cries of citizens yearning for equity and justice, many political leaders remain tight-lipped and inactive.

Governments have an obligation to be forthright with their citizens, especially on pressing issues that impact daily lives. Transparency should not be a campaign promise but a continuous commitment to the people they serve. It’s time for our government leaders to demonstrate real responsibility by addressing not only the ongoing protests but also the underlying causes of these demonstrations.

Further, comprehensive communication regarding federal and local responses to protests is essential. We need clarity on policies being implemented to ensure safety, reduce violence, and promote peaceful dialogue. Silence only breeds distrust, further marginalizing communities already suffering from systemic inequalities.

We envision a government that explicitly acknowledges and addresses the grievances of its people. By doing so, it would not only foster trust but also pave the way for genuine progress in societal equity.

To push for this necessary transparency, we call upon our federal leaders to actively communicate and engage in honest discussions about protests and related issues. Real change begins with open dialogue and truthful leadership.
