The Markham community has grown increasingly concerned at the state of mismanagement at Masjid Darul Iman (MDI) over the better part of the last decade. There is a lack of financial transparency, a lack of free and fair elections, no sisters' representation, and no community governance. 

Despite the Chair of the MDI Board asking to see a petition from the community seeking change, no changes to meet these concerns have been enacted, much less even proposed. The board has refused to join the community townhall held in spring of last year nor has it hosted its own. AGMs were held privately behind closed doors in 2023 & 2024 to maintain secrecy. 

NEXT STEP - Become a Member of General Assembly @ MDI
As a next step towards driving change, we urge concerned members of the local community to take action & show interest in becoming a member of a general assembly. This is intended to further reinforce the community's message to the MDI Board that we want a change in how our funds and assets are used.
