I am reaching out as a concerned citizen of India, a country that takes immense pride in its diverse languages, cultural events, and unique celebrations. The beauty of India lies in its democratic establishment, which allows every individual to decide and express their preferences. Recently, the movie “Emergency” by Kangana Ranaut, has been facing unnecessary censorship pressures. A small group representing only a fraction of our diverse and intelligent populace is trying to virtually dismantle a significant part of this art-piece. This, I believe, is an infringement on the freedom of speech and expression, and can potentially lead to significant economic losses for the hardworking artists involved.

This situation is not singular. Previously, a Punjabi movie addressing a similar sensitive issue was released and even produced by the same community that is opposing "Emergency". The precedence of such censorships can set a detrimental standard for future artists and their creative scope.
