Petition updateDemand the Safe Return of Irish Citizen Zak Hania from Gaza

Irish Citizens trapped in Gaza as the situation continues to worsen

Zak Hania is still trapped in Gaza, along with other Irish Citizens and the families of several Irish Citizens and residents, as the situation worsens every day.

Many that have survived attacks and bombardment are critically injured with no healthcare.  Zak's cousin is injured, his wife killed and two of his grandchildren killed, due to lack of health care they had to amputate his leg; he is trying to leave for treatment but he is not allowed.  Zak has also run out of medication that he requires daily.

We have yet to receive any updates or assurances from the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, regarding concrete measures to guarantee their safety.  Zak hasn't had any contact from the Department of Foreign Affairs since December 21st.

Responses from Department of Foreign Affairs, and TDs that have replied when we've contacted them, all suggest that the decision to allow evacuation from Gaza is determined by Israel despite their rights as Irish Citizens.

The rhetoric from Israeli Officials suggests their aim is to encourage the immigration of Palestinians from the area, yet those separated from their families here in Ireland that wish to leave are being prevented from doing so. We have yet to see our Government hold the Israeli ambassador to Ireland to account in this regard, and we request that they do publicly and in a transparent manner.

Please continue to contact your TDs and representatives.  Lives are at stake.
