I am deeply concerned about the state of the arts, culture, and sports sectors in South Africa. Seeing these vital aspects of our national identity on the brink of collapse is personal to me. Unfortunately, they are not receiving the attention and funding they desperately need to flourish, something that should be a priority for our leadership.

Instead, we are witnessing ongoing misuse of taxpayer money. Gayton Mckenzie, who is entrusted with upholding our nation's cultural and sporting integrity, seems to have shifted focus onto ventures that do not benefit our communities directly. Particularly alarming was his extravagant expenditure on various trips, most notably R31 million, controversial visit to the World Cup.

South Africa prides itself on its rich, diverse culture and strong sporting heritage, yet 70% of our arts, culture, and sports initiatives are underfunded or dying. This gross misallocation of resources from someone who should be safeguarding our national pride is unacceptable. Our leaders should invest in fostering and preserving what defines us as a nation.

Therefore, I am calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to take decisive action by removing Gayton Mckenzie from office. This move will help redirect the much-needed funds back into our cultural and sports sectors, where they can have a tangible positive impact.

Our country deserves leaders who prioritize the cultural and sports sectors that unite and define us. We need transparency and accountability in how public funds are used.
