Hello again petitioners for change!
I keep hearing that I am being sued for defamation or harassment or what have you, but this has not happened to my knowledge, nor has it ever happened to me. The Mountaineers are diligently forming a subcommittee to look at their safety practices and culture (yay!), and the named individuals in this petition are aware of survivors' first amendment rights to free speech. This is particularly poignant for me as an SA/DV Victim Advocate when we are sharing information posted publicly by the government concerning convictions. It's important the climbing community is aware of who is perpetrating violence, and I am happy to amplify that information when it comes to violence committed in vulnerable, isolated places to marginalized climbers!
Good news- we've secured a date for next month's Bystander Awareness Training! We will be focusing on the Intervention piece of the Safe Outside Curriculum by practicing the 4 D's of Bystander Intervention. These are 'Direct, Distract, Delegate, and Delay'. We'll practice using some examples listed in the petition as well as from my library of complaint forms. Be sure to RSVP if you're in the Seattle area and want to receive guidance from the wonderful Prevention Team at King County Sexual Assault Resource Center! Givebutter.com/BAT
That's what I got for ye' today!
