Hello everyone - we have now hit a milestone of 600+ signatures, first and foremost I would like to thank everyone who has been signing and sharing my petition so far.
I would like to let everyone know that we need to now put on more and more pressure. I have already written four handwritten letters to elected officials, and now I have prepared another four letters to be sent to those in power in my constituency.
I am currently working to bring this petition to the attention of as many people as possible, and I also urge you to send some template emails I have laid out to further your impact and mount seriously needed pressure, we are at a crucial point here.
On July 29th, a joint statement between many countries, including Ireland titled, "Israel/Palestinian territories: Joint statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs - New York Call." was released.
The statement pushes for a two state solution, however, a Palestinian state which is demilitarized and left defenseless in front of Israel - with no mention of plans put in place to protect this Palestinian state.
There is also no mention of genocide, or repercussions for the perpetrators of genocide. While they use strong language to condemn the resistance and only the resistance - they only express "grave concern" over the suffering of the people in Gaza.
I have also written to the Irish Minister of Foreign affairs, Simon Harris, and asked him questions about this statement and about the Palestinian state being proposed. And I encourage that you do the same if your country is a part of this joint statement.
Until one democratic state with equal rights for all - Palestine, from the river to the sea,
-Holly xx
