Hello all! 

Thank you for supporting this petition & others asking the IOC & France to ban Steven Van de Velde &/or any sex offender from participating in the Olympics. 

No rapists, no sex offenders belong in the Olympics. If the Olympic Committee performs background checks to keep sex offenders from volunteering or working in the Olympic Village or the Olympic Games, then certainly no convicted sex offender should be representing any country as an Olympiad. 

This is a very difficult ask, it is exhausting, it is triggering, so if you find yourselves struggling please reach out to talk to one of many support services. We must keep speaking up to prevent further abuse, we must keep up the momentum to stop the potential for a rapist to be idolized on a global podium. It is not ok. We must protect each other, we must protect assault survivors, we must prevent this from ever happening again & keep this topic open, not swept under the rug or easily dismissed.
