I have watched with growing dismay as the national youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has showcased a blatant disregard for public sentiment through the acquisition and display of luxury vehicles. These actions not only offend the sensibilities of everyday citizens but also reflect a worrying misalignment with the role that a youth leader is supposed to fulfill in Nigeria.

A youth leader should embody the hopes and dreams of future generations, acting as a conduit to amplify their voices in the corridors of power. Instead, we have witnessed a glaring disconnect; an ostentatious parade that prioritizes swank and status over substance and service. This behavior signals that maintaining loyalty through expensive patronage takes precedence over addressing the real needs and struggles of our youth and the broader populace.

Luxury vehicle displays serve as symbols of inequity, a stark contrast to the challenges faced by many young Nigerians striving for opportunities, education, and employment. Such disregard for public perception highlights a profound lack of emotional intelligence; a critical trait for anyone in a leadership position. Leaders must understand and respond to the genuine frustrations of their constituents, channeling energy into initiatives that foster growth, support, and development.

The current situation undermines the credibility of the APC and erodes the bridge between the youth of our nation and those in power as we head towards the elections. It is crucial for our youth leaders to demonstrate humility, accountability, and a commitment to meaningful change, rather than engaging in practices that perpetuate elitism and disconnect.

Therefore, we call upon the APC stakeholders to demand the immediate resignation of the current national youth leader. We need a leader who is dedicated to advancing the welfare of all Nigerians, committed to addressing the systemic issues plaguing our society, and focused on creating tangible opportunities for our youth.
