Major Update from the National Unpaid Carers Union and Forum

Two years ago, more than 4,000 people signed our petition calling on the UK Government to return confiscated assets from Unpaid Carers who were overpaid thousands of pounds of Carers Allowance, through an error by the DWP.
Since then, NUCUF has worked relentlessly to secure the recognition unpaid carers deserve. Together with supporters across the UK, we have:
- Petitioned Keir Starmer to cease all legal proceedings pending a full review of overpayment cases.
- Submitted testimony to the Sayce Review as part of the wider response to the Casey Commission.
- Formed a coalition with Voices – ADFOCAD, our Welsh counterpart.
- Co‑produced the National Blueprint for Reform, including a full Economic Impact Report showing how modernising Carer’s Allowance benefits both carers and the UK economy.
And today — 7 July 2026 — the Government has announced a formal Call for Evidence in the Sayce Review.
This is historic. For the first time in 50 years, unpaid carers finally have a say in shaping the future of Carer’s Allowance.
Now we need your voice again.
Our joint NUCUF / Voices – ADFOCAD Blueprint is available here: 👉 www.nucuf.com/vote.html
If you agree with the Blueprint, simply click YES. Every YES strengthens our mandate, increases our influence, and helps secure the recognition unpaid carers desperately deserve.
This is our moment. Let’s make it count.
