Kate is many things. She is a mom, a caregiver, an advocate, and a Defense of Democracy volunteer.

Kate joined Defense of Democracy to fight for her daughter Addy who is autistic and nonverbal and requires teachers who specialize in children with disabilities.

These days, Kate is faced with the reality that her daughter’s program may be defunded due to attacks on her school system from christo-fascist groups like Moms for Liberty. She is faced with the fact that next year, her daughter may be unable to attend the school that she loves so much.

Kate has dedicated time and energy to work as a Chapter Chair for Defense of Democracy because she has seen firsthand how important it is to protect our schools and libraries. Just this week, the efforts of our volunteers throughout the country materialized in a flurry of losses by Moms for Liberty endorsed candidates at the ballot box. It is a time to celebrate our wins and prepare for the future.
