I want to update you on the latest developments regarding our ongoing mobile service problems.

On 1 February 2025, Gilgandra Shire Council and I were able to meet with Michael Marom, Telstra’s Regional Manager, to raise our community’s concerns and demand immediate solutions. We made it clear that resolving these issues is a matter of absolute urgency.

In response, the Council is actively working with Telstra to identify a suitable site for a new mobile tower. Council and Telstra representatives are scheduled to meet again next week to finalise the site selection – a critical step towards improving our connectivity. Council is actively lobbying Telstra to keep this project moving and ensure the tower is built as a matter of urgency.

As a community we cannot wait passively. I urge every one of you to help keep our case at the top of Telstra’s list by lodging complaints directly with Telstra and the Telecommunications Sector Ombudsman (TSO). Your feedback is vital – it shows Telstra that this issue affects real people every day and needs urgent resolution.

Please also continue to sign the petition so that you can receive the latest updates as we push for a better-connected Gilgandra. Your ongoing support and action are making a difference.

I will continue to liaise with the Council and Telstra and keep you informed as more information becomes available.
