Well everyone, the news is certainly out!
And boy, did things really get out there heading into the weekend. Not only did Cline's mayoral opponent, Kevin Sartor, come out with an official statement and demand that the City Council censures her, but there was a corresponding article about this in the Surprise Independent. This is in addition to the original article published about the sign removal, too!
The article originally published in the Arizona Republic has also now garnered national attention, and has been republished on USA Today and MSN News. This is a HUGE DEAL, and we can only hope this sparks action by the City of Surprise soon.
Now onto the call-to-action ...
First and foremost, sharing this petition around social media is extremely appreciated and helpful in collecting more signatures in support of getting these issues with Councilwoman Cline's recent activities / behaviors addressed.
The next thing you can do is make sure your local Surprise friends, family, and neighbors all know what's going on! Get them to sign the petition as well if you can!
And the third and final thing is that there is a City Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 21st. Towards the very beginning of the meeting, there is a section called 'Call to the Public' where residents can address the council on non-agenda items. The more people we have to show up and speak to the council in an effort to demand action, the better! You can arrive early to submit a paper form for your request to speak, or alternative fill out the online form at least one hour prior to the start of the meeting. Council meeting starts promptly at 6pm, though I'd recommend being about 10 mins early to park and walk into the chambers, just to be safe!
To summarize the call-to-action, just remember these three steps:
- Share the petition link: https://www.change.org/accountabilityforcline
- Tell your friends, family, & neighbors!
- Show up at City Council on 5/21 @ 6PM & speak up!
And thank you all for your continued support & attention to this important matter! Together we can work to restore our city's election integrity!
