We need to contact our Representatives to enact change. Empowered by the PACT Act victory, in which animal cruelty is now a federal crime, I believe that our campaign for social media sites to be animal advocates/protectors should be included in this law. If animal cruelty is now a federal offense, then abusers should not be the only ones held accountable for their crimes, but social media sites that have reach throughout the United States should be held accountable too. They share equal blame because they enable the abuse when they do not PROACTIVELY take action against these monsters. Censoring abuse/taking down image/video content only when users complain is NOT ENOUGH. If animal cruelty is now a federal offense, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, etc, MUST be held accountable too.
