For all of us who regularly drive U.S. 95 there is a pressing issue, an issue which has taken lives and stolen loved ones from us, and puts us all at risk, every day. Currently, the highway serves as a major artery from the Canadian border down to Boise, laden with challenges such as inadequate road conditions and dangerous driving behaviors that threaten the safety of all travelers and above all else, poor infrastructure.

Statistics show that these highways witness frequent accidents, many resulting from speeding and inattentive driving. According to the Idaho Transportation Department, in 2022 alone, there were over 500 reported incidents along this stretch, leading to numerous injuries and fatalities. This situation demands immediate action.

We urge the relevant authorities to enforce stricter penalties for inattentive driving and speeding. Simultaneously, we call for the modernization and expansion of Highway 95 to accommodate growing traffic volumes and enhance safety. Improved signage, additional lanes, and better lighting could drastically reduce road mishaps.
