The Issue

I'm reaching out to request your support in resolving a personal financial issue that has deeply affected me. Last year, I entered into a monthly contribution agreement with a group of individuals known as "ajo" or "esusu", a communal savings and loan system prevalent in Nigeria. I diligently fulfilled my obligation by making timely contributions every month, never missing a single payment. This system relies heavily on trust and the commitment of each member to uphold their end of the agreement.

However, as we approached the conclusion of the cycle, I found myself as the last person entitled to receive disbursement. To my dismay, certain members within the group have failed to honor their promise, refusing to pay me the money I am owed. This situation has left me in a difficult position, both financially and personally, as I had counted on these funds for urgent needs.

These community savings schemes are meant to operate on the foundation of mutual trust and reciprocal support. When someone defaults, it not only undermines the system but also causes significant hardship for the individual awaiting their rightful dues. For many people, including myself, this is more than just an informal financial agreement; it is a lifeline that supports business investments, education, medical expenses, and more.

I urge the members involved to honor their commitments and for community leaders or relevant authorities to intervene where possible. Such intervention may include mediation or the facilitation of a structured resolution to ensure everyone acts in good faith.

You may wonder why this matters, but I believe standing against this form of systemic breach is crucial. Ensuring fair dealings within community-based financial arrangements can foster more trust and accountability, which ultimately benefits everyone involved.

I am asking for your support by signing this petition to put moral pressure on the defaulting members. Your signature is a vote for fairness, justice, and the upholding of communal trust. Together, we can ensure that integrity prevails and these systems can continue to thrive, serving those who depend on them for their economic well-being.

Please sign this petition to help me reclaim what is rightfully mine and uphold the values that these savings schemes are built upon.
