Congratulations, supporters. PG&E has confirmed that they are no longer planning to remove any of the 272 origin trees that were part of the 2017 original agreement with the City of Lafayette.
This is a three-fold complete success:
1. NO trees were removed along Lafayette's gas pipelines. Over 80% of the trees were protected heritage oaks and are highly valued by residents.
2. MANY gas safety improvements were made based on resident engagement. PG&E's improvements in this area to their aging pipelines have made our community trails & neighborhoods safer.
3. The City of Lafayette should retain $530,000 as part of the original agreement.
Thank you to the CPUC, the residents of Lafayette, the City of Lafayette, and PG&E for working with us these many years. Without the engagement of any of these groups, the efforts would not have been successful. We are honored and delighted with this outcome.
