Hello everyone,
We are reaching out today with a significant update regarding the future of Nickelodeon Animation Studios. As we continue to advocate for Warner Bros. Discovery's acquisition of Paramount Skydance cancellation, it is crucial to stay informed about the shifting leadership at the top.
What’s Happening?
As of April 10, 2026, Alec Botnick has been appointed the new President of Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Botnick, a longtime executive at CBS Studios, will now oversee the development of new series and the studio’s massive hits like SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol. He is replacing the previous dual-leadership structure, as Ashley Kaplan transitions into a consulting role.
A New Structural Shift
Beyond the new president, the studio itself is undergoing a major reorganization. Nickelodeon Animation Studios is now officially operating as a subsidiary label within CBS Studios. This integration means that Nickelodeon's animation production will now fall under the broader CBS Studios umbrella, led by David Stapf, as Paramount consolidates its television assets.
What This Means for Our Cause
Structural changes like these can lead to shifts in creative direction, budgeting, and how new projects are greenlit.
- New Advocacy Target: Our efforts may now need to include outreach to Alec Botnick and the leadership at CBS Studios to ensure our voices are heard by the new decision-makers.
- Next Steps: We are currently analyzing how this "label" status within CBS might affect the specific issues we’ve raised in this petition.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this new chapter for Nickelodeon. Please stay tuned for our next steps on how to contact the new leadership team.
Onward,
Marcellous Shaw
