There are several stakeholders in NSW that are involved in ensuring that students going to school are safe. These include the Education Minister, the NSW Education Department, NSW Health, the parents, and the Federation of P&C.
Other than parents and the Orange Council not one of these stakeholders has stepped up to address the issue of the death of Decklan Hayward i.e. shifting blame and responsibility and just doing the same failed things to address a fatal outcome, (without appropriate consideration or consultation) will result in the same outcome in the future.
One has to ask, what number of deaths will be sufficient for the stakeholders to treat this issue seriously and act responsibly under their responsibilities?
We call on Minister Car to provide a number, so at least parents will be fully informed of the risk to their children attending NSW schools while reaching this threshold.
