The Issue

Yap Shing Xuen was only sixteen when her life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence at her school. She was a bright and promising young girl who had dreams and a future full of potential ahead of her. Her family, friends, and community in Malaysia are left heartbroken and in deep grief, struggling to understand how such a tragedy could occur in a place where children should feel safest.

This petition is not just about seeking justice for Yap Shing Xuen, but also about demanding accountability and transparency from those responsible for ensuring the safety of our children in schools. We believe that this horrific incident and Yap Shing Xuen's story deserves attention and action to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.

Schools are meant to be sanctuaries of learning and growth, not places of fear. Our children deserve to feel safe and protected, and it is our responsibility to ensure this. We call upon the Malaysian government and educational authorities to thoroughly investigate this tragedy and implement stronger security measures to safeguard students. We urge them to enforce stricter policies on monitoring school environments and mental health, and to ensure counselors are readily available to provide support.

Moreover, we request regular safety training for staff and students to prepare them for emergency situations. It's vital that schools become environments where students are not only educated but also safe and supported.

As we remember Yap Shing Xuen, let us not allow her death to be in vain. Stand with her family and community to demand justice and create safer schools for all children in Malaysia. By signing this petition, you join us in our call for transparency, responsibility, and change.

Please sign and share this petition widely to honor Yap Shing Xuen's memory and send a clear message that we will not rest until justice is served and preventative measures are put in place. Together, we can make a difference.
