The Issue

Siphesihle Radebe is a young South African woman whose life has been shattered by an unforgivable breach of justice. After bravely surviving a horrific rape, she placed her faith in the justice system to not only hold her attacker accountable but to also ensure her safety. However, this system has failed her in the most unimaginable way.

On the 17th of September, 2026, at what was supposed to be yet another step towards justice, Siphesihle was met with a devastating shock. In a moment that still chills my heart, she collapsed in the courtroom upon the realization that her assailant had been released on bail, and nobody had even informed her. Her horror and panic were palpable, as was mine, witnessing her fear and betrayal.

Due to this unjust release, Siphesihle and a key witness are now living in constant fear, their every day overshadowed by the knowledge that the man who violated her walks free. This isn't just an oversight; it's a gross negligence that undermines the very core of the justice system—protection and rehabilitation.

The release of Siphesihle's attacker without her knowledge not only endangers her but also sets a perilous precedent for all survivors. This decision trivializes the trauma endured by victims and dissuades others from coming forward for fear of a similar outcome. It sends a message that those who have been wronged cannot rely on the structures meant to protect them. This must change.

Therefore, we are calling for the immediate revocation of bail for Siphesihle's assailant. This action is essential to protect her safety, restore her peace of mind, and reaffirm our faith in justice. We demand accountability from the authorities and assurance that no other victim has to endure such an ordeal ever again.

We urge the South African justice system to reconsider the implications of their actions, recognizing the emotional and physical safety of victims as the utmost priority. Join us in supporting Siphesihle and all victims of injustice by demanding that her attacker be returned to custody immediately.

Please sign this petition to help restore integrity and justice to our system, ensuring that every survivor feels safe to come forward, knowing they will be protected and heard. Your signature can make the difference in granting Siphesihle—and countless others—the justice they deserve.
