As many of you prepare your homes for Eid… decorating, cooking, shopping for loved ones, and looking forward to embracing your families, remember that there are those who will welcome Eid behind prison walls.
Men and women unjustly detained.
Men and women separated from their spouses and children.
Mothers trying to comfort their children while carrying unbearable pain themselves.
Children waiting at doors that will not open this Eid.
Families forced to smile through heartbreak while carrying the weight of absence.
While you gather around full tables, some families sit with empty chairs.
While you exchange gifts, others cling only to memories, letters, and hope.
While you sleep peacefully, there are oppressed souls crying into the darkness, longing for freedom, dignity, and the warmth of their loved ones.
The pain they carry cannot always be seen.
The tears wiped away before Fajr.
The silent ʾadʿiyah whispered in loneliness.
The children asking when their loved one is coming home.
Please, do not let them be forgotten.
Take a moment to make du'a for every oppressed prisoner, every grieving family, and every soul suffering injustice.
Supplicate that Allah grants them strength, patience, freedom, and reunion with those they love.
Eid is not complete while your brothers and sisters suffer in silence.
Much Love,
~ Umm Jaabir
