🔍 What Is Happening?
Landfill Waste Expansion: Back in February, a public consultation took place regarding plans to allow the Shelford landfill site to bring in significantly more waste and heavy lorries. Months later, the final outcome of this consultation is still completely unknown to the public.
The "Vague" AI Centre Proposal: A separate planning application has been submitted to build a massive AI Data Centre right at the landfill site. This application is incredibly vague about its intense water and electricity consumption.
A Family Connection: The company behind the AI centre is being run it seems by the son of the Managing Director of the Shelford landfill site. This highly strategic move reads like a corporate cash-in that sidesteps transparency.
