Action is needed I am writing to ask you to help pls sign a new petition (link below) and more importantly to contact the Environment Agency to refuse a new application to increase the amount of waste processed at the Shelford Landfill site as they wish to double the amount of commercial waste coming to the site, as ever no consulation with locals or our councillors. What we have seen is a mass increase in height of Shelford landfill in the last year the site is now towering over the area, with more of the worst stuff is going on at a quicker rate than ever before and a visable increase of waste lorries around the city.
A new SHELFORD LANDFILL SITE PETITION has written by current local councillors Beth Forrester- Canterbury Councillor for St Stephen’s and Alister Brady KCC Councillor for Canterbury City North asking the Environment Agency to refuse the new application to increase the amount of waste processed at the Shelford Landfill site.
Please sign and even better reply directly to the Environment Agency to let them know how the local community feels about this proposal! It is a substantial change and this needs to be flagged up and further investigation needs to be done by the EA.
The councilors petition asks Valencia for more detail and clarification and that residents concerns are being listen too before any decision is made!
