We should bive credit when credit is earned.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center has reduced infections by a bacteriu, C. difficile, acquired in the hospital. Three years ago they ranked in the lower 30% of hospitals according to Leapfrog. This Spring they rank in the top 40%. This is important and encouraging.
C. difficile is a bacterial infection often acquired in hospitals that causes severe diarrhea, disability and even death. It can be very difficult to control so the steady improvement at NHRMC deserves recognition. If they can control C. diff, they can the other infections they are struggling with.
