Brendan Broderick started this petition to Governor Phil Murphy

NJ Transit service is the worst commuter railroad in the country. It leads the country in breakdowns and delays.  Through mismanagement, incompetence, and indifference, the leadership both in Trenton as well as NJ Transit have failed the almost one million commuters who rely on the service daily.

We feel it’s imperative that:

• Governor Murphy should declare a state of emergency to receive immediate federal assistance to improve the situation

• Kevin Corbett—head of NJT—should be on the platforms and in the trains, answering questions and sharing in the frustration, not just hiding in Trenton. He should also immediately implement refunds for passengers who never get where they paid to go

• State leaders should immediately take far more aggressive action--and show measurable progress--to improve the deplorable conditions provided by NJ Transit

If the leaders in NJ and the management of NJT both feel that improvement to the system is unlikely in our lifetime, they should be forthright with train commuters and tell them to find alternate forms of transportation. Other than that, the public demands answers.  The current situation is not only a serious threat to the economy of the state, but now also a threat to commuter safety.

GET SOMETHING DONE. NOW.
