Happy Wednesday. We have 75,410 signatures. Welcome new signers!! Hope everyone had a good winter! Spring is here and there is much has happened so let me catch ya up.
I haven't done an update in a while but I have been so pissed off of the ever continuing saga, its hard to keep composure and PG rated while Connecticut is screwing us! Warning! I am going to swear today.
First of all, S.B. 647 is dead! Killed! Mutilated! Dismembered by the Energy and Technology Committee.
April of 2025 is here! You know what that means?
The 77% Millstone and COVID moritorium money being taxed from us from August of 2024 through the Public Benefit charge is going away. YEA!!!! So the Connecticut Public Benefits are going to be less, right? NOPE!
Our electric bill will be soaring higher than a cheeta on cocaine.
REFUND FROM EVERSOURCE REFUSED!
*from AI*
PURA has been in a dispute with Eversource regarding the return of money to ratepayers, specifically concerning a $275 million credit Eversource proposed. PURA initially approved a smaller amount of $45 million, leading Eversource to argue that the full amount should be returned to customers based on actual and forecasted market information.
Eversource's Proposed Credit:
Eversource initially proposed a $209 million credit, later revised to $275 million, arguing that customers should benefit from actual and forecasted market information from power purchase agreements.
PURA's Response:
PURA approved a smaller amount of $45 million, citing a "known and measurable adjustment".
Disagreement:
Eversource argues that the $45 million is insufficient and that PURA should allow the full $275 million to be returned to customers, providing real-time cost savings.
Ongoing Dispute:
The matter is still pending before PURA, with a vote scheduled for April 23rd, 2025.

Senator Jeff Gordon, a champion for our cause from day 1, criticized PURA’s handling of a proposed $275 million refund from Eversource to ratepayers. Instead of returning the full amount, PURA has signaled support for refunding just $40 million—a mere 14.5% of what Eversource says ratepayers are owed.
PURA is keeping the money for a rainy day? Slush fund? Read it here or click on the link below. All I can say is WTF? You can't make this shit up!
PURA’s latest experiment in socialized electric bills is turning into a costly disaster for Connecticut ratepayers. What the 1:17 video interview with Vincent Candelora on facebook here
Then there’s the new PURA discount program — costing ratepayers $137 million!
Marc E. Fitch explains on CII (Connecticut Inside Investigator) "Connecticut ratepayers will be covering roughly $137 million in automatic discounts given to low-income residents under a data-sharing agreement between the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the utility companies, part of a program initiated by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA)." You can read it here
Here is the icing on the cake (or kick in the pants) - Gillett gets reapointed after 4 years of the ugliest electric bills in the country! Seriously?
Marissa Gillett, the head of Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) was confirmed to a second four-year term on Tuesday, despite a walkout from Senate Republicans in protest of a purported deal to secure political support for her reappointment. You can read / watch it on Yahoo News here.
A quid pro quo? Possibly. You can read / watch it here on WTNH Channel 8.
Marissa Gillett, who has led the authority since 2019, was confirmed by a vote of 21-0 in the Senate with none of the chamber’s 11 Republicans participating.
How bad is Connecticut really with regards to our painful tax buden and high energy cost? You can read Mehgan's article here on the Yankee Institute.
"Connecticut ranks 47th out of 50. That’s not a one-off — the state has been stuck in the bottom five since 2016."
While I digress and apologize for my first and second swear word in all of my 36th updates, I can't help that...
This is Total Bullshit and they are out of control! PURA not refunding 100% Eversource wants to give back to ratepayers? Hiking our electric rates again?
Its apparent that Connecticut Majority Democratic Party don't care about us. I am still remain bipartison but the Democrats are in control. I call it as I see it. I was, myself, a democrat for 30 years until they stop being a champion for it's citizens.
I will be ending this petition soon. Change.org has received over $17,265 contributed in donations and received 450,106 petition views. None of these funds go to me or the cause. I wish I can give it all back to you! No more donations!
In conclusion, read or watch this one. Its a doozy. Caught on a Hot Mic!
While I have thousands of people, young and old, pouring their hearts out to me that they no longer can afford to live in this state and have no assistance, the Democrats call their constituents stupid.
Rep. Anne Hughes (D-Easton), evidently pleased with the proceedings, was caught on camera exchanging a high-five with Rep. Sarah Keitt (D-Fairfield) while laughing about the idea of taxing her own constituents.
It didn’t stop there. Just moments later, Rep. Hughes turned to Rep. Keitt, Rep. Nick Menapace (D–East Lyme), and Rep. Jason Doucette (D–Glastonbury) and added, “We’re not rich. But I always tell the governor to tax my people — they won’t even notice.”
This was a great catch by Mehgan Portfolio from the Yankee Institute. Well done.
Democrats must be so proud!
