Today we are grateful for your continual support. We are just 318 supporters away from our next goal. We are also forever traumatized by our loss and the pure intentional and continual abuse Sherri sustained. Here is an image from the face time call Sherri made on 12/31/21 immediately after being assaulted. What we are seeing here is how she was left by the respiratory therapist following the assault and irate behavior. The therapist failed to place the cannula in her nostrils, but instead placed it on top of the non-breather mask. This means she left without adequate oxygen as prescribed. The nurse present for the event caught this. She placed the o2 on appropriately after Sherri’s breathing became labored while describing the event to us on FaceTime. We contacted IMPD and administration immediately. We never heard back. We put in a request to transfer and also asked for outpatient 02 therapy. The goal was to return home where we could guarantee her safety. We never heard back from the case manager. Truth was, she was only safe at home. She was not safe at any local hospital and had not been for years. She was placed on a waitlist for an open bed to transfer. This never happened. We were then not given a script for 02 in order to leave and return home. Because her oxygen demands could not be managed at home without oxygen, we couldn’t just leave AMA. Her lungs would worsen and eventually she is intubated.
Please continue sharing her story with others and demand that her story receives the attention it deserves. No human or animal deserves what she endured, and to think….it’s still much worse then this. Keep signing. Keep sharing. Keep advocating for her story. She would be doing the exact same for you… If her life wasn’t cut short.
Thank you for being dedicated to this journey with us.
