On March 31st, Malta celebrates Freedom Day, marking the withdrawal of all British troops in 1979. Yet, not all nations have this freedom. On March 30th, Palestinians commemorate Land Day, remembering the 1976 protests against Israel’s confiscation of Arab-owned land in Galilee. Six unarmed demonstrators were killed, and hundreds were injured or arrested. Land Day symbolises Palestinian resistance and their struggle for land rights.

On March 30th, Palestinians commemorate Land Day, remembering the 1976 protests of Palestinian workers against Israel’s confiscation of Arab-owned land in Galilee. Six unarmed demonstrators were killed, and hundreds were injured or arrested. Land Day symbolises Palestinian resistance and their struggle for land rights.

This year, as Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid, genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine escalate, backed by the US, UK, and Germany, we stand in solidarity. Over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, with countless more suffering from bombings, starvation, destitution and lack of medical care. The world’s governments, including ours, have failed to uphold international law and morality.

We demand justice, an end to the occupation, and freedom for Palestine. Their fight for self-determination and dignity is a universal struggle we must all support.
