CPH just announced some adjustments (CHANGES!) to their housing policy that address some of our concerns. Their hard line is broken - they can and should make things right. For next steps, it is crucial to include the voices of not just the parents, but the Arcata community, students, staff, and faculty. We are all stakeholders who can work in cooperation with the CPH administration toward a better solution to the housing crisis. We have 2 initial requests:
- We would like to have a STAKEHOLDER’S MEETING with - at minimum - representatives from CPH (including staff, faculty, and Union reps), the Student protesters, Arcata community reps (especially housing advocates), Disability services, CSU administration, and representatives from facilities/transportation.
- We would like to establish ACCOUNTABILITY measures for CPH and the CSU so that we are not left powerless, especially during the bridge housing period. Whatever happens as we solve these problems, we need TRANSPARENCY, attention to EQUITY AND FAIRNESS, and CLEARER COMMUNICATION as we proceed.
We have a lot more questions which we will be sharing with the administration. We are committed to putting the needs of the students and community at the center of our efforts. Thank you all for your support - it is making a difference!
