My MP, Mary Robinson's secretary, Ruth, has written to me today, 21/03/2024, stating:

"I would also advise that you encourage people who share your concerns to contact their MPs individually so the strength of feeling can be made clear.

Below, I have prepared a template for your MP that you can use regarding Fair Regulations for Low-Carb and Keto Terminology.

Don't forget to include your address and date it.

Dear [MP's Name],

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you today as one of your constituents to express my concern regarding recent regulatory changes affecting the use of terms such as "low carb" and "keto" in the food industry.

As you may be aware, the UK government has recently implemented regulations that criminalize the use of these terms under the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation (EC) 1924/2006. This decision has had significant repercussions for businesses in our community, including those like Sweet Victory Products Ltd., which rely on accurately labeling their products to inform consumers and remain competitive in the market.

I believe that these regulations are unjust and hinder both consumer choice and small business growth. By criminalizing the use of terms like "low carb" and "keto," the government is not only restricting the ability of businesses to accurately communicate the benefits of their products but also limiting access to healthier dietary options for consumers.

I am joining a growing number of individuals in our community who are calling for fair regulations that define "low carb" per gram and ensure accurate and standardized information for consumers. I urge you to support this cause and advocate for the reversal of these regulations to protect the rights of businesses and consumers alike.

As my elected representative, I kindly ask for your assistance in addressing this issue and raising it in Parliament. Your voice and influence are essential in ensuring that our concerns are heard and addressed by policymakers.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
