Today I read the story of a young woman who repeatedly went to the ER because she knew something was wrong. She was told over and over that she “just had a cold” and was sent home. No imaging. No escalation. No one truly listened.
She later died at home from pneumonia struggling to breathe because her concerns were dismissed until it was too late.
This is not rare.
This is not an accident.
This is what happens when women are not believed by medical professionals.
Women are routinely told their pain is anxiety, hormones, stress, or “not serious enough.” We are sent home, delayed, minimized, and dismissed — and sometimes the cost is our lives.
This is exactly what the Her Health Matters Movement is about.
It’s about making sure women are believed the first time.
It’s about stopping the normalization of medical gaslighting.
It’s about accountability in a healthcare system that too often fails women.
If you have ever been dismissed, laughed at, or sent home when you knew something was wrong your story matters. You can share it here or message me privately. We can keep it anonymous.
