We reject Football South Coast's decision to dissolve our representative teams and replace real elite development with a part-time "FSC Academy".

We reject that many families, coaches, and players were left completely stranded without a club or a further pathway to continue their journeys.

We reject that our women's soccer development has been completely left behind, cast aside, and abandoned.

The South Coast Flame female program was widely recognised as one of the absolute best setups in the state. It was consistently benchmarked and ranked among the top elite programs in the entire National Premier Leagues (NPL) network. At a time when women’s football is experiencing unprecedented national growth, pulling the rug out from under a proven, elite pathway for young girls and women is a massive step backward. It actively destroys years of hard work dedicated to building equity, visibility, and high-performance avenues for female athletes in the Illawarra.

This decision doesn’t just harm players; it fractures the entire local football ecosystem. Local coaches lose the platform to earn higher credentials, gain elite matchday experience, and progress within a professional club framework. This shift also creates an immediate "talent drain," fueling a damaging "pay-to-play" class divide that prices out local families.

This decision severely restricts access to high-performance development by leaving only a couple of elite clubs left in our entire area. By wiping out South Coast Flame, the region is left with an artificial monopoly where thousands of local kids are forced to fight over a handful of spots. This makes elite development unfair and hyper-competitive, discarding excellent young players simply because of where they live. 

We demand a fair football development pathway in the Illawarra that honors our proud regional sporting history and gives our players, coaches, and officials the full-time, long-term opportunities they deserve!
