We are almost at 150 signatures with 14 paid supporters! The image I've shared is an email from Dr. Carpenter to myself when I was asking for clarification about my questions. I thought it was important for everyone to see who has children in our schools.

This morning I sent an email to the EPA OIG to follow up on my complaint and share this petition and the fact that there are so many others also demanding this investigation and immediate corrective action. Here is what I sent:

"Good morning,  I filed a complaint using the online form on December 3rd. I have requested for the OIG to investigate and address the systemic failures of EPA Region 1 officials in enforcing critical public health protections mandated by the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) at the GE-Housatonic River Superfund Site.

I am writing again to include a petition which is closing in on 150 signatures from individuals also requesting the following happen immediately. People are sick and this is unacceptable. Please help us urgently. Here is our petition: https://www.change.org/pcbsinpittsfield

Specifically, we request:

Immediate Investigation: A thorough investigation into EPA Region 1's compliance with CERCLA requirements concerning the GE-Housatonic River Superfund Site.

Notification of ATSDR: The EPA must notify the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) to conduct a comprehensive public health assessment as mandated by CERCLA §104(i)(1).

Updated Risk Assessments: The EPA must update risk assessments to incorporate current scientific data on PCB toxicity, including inhalation risks and non-cancer health effects, as required by CERCLA §104(i)(6).

Establishment of Medical Registry and Disease Surveillance: In cooperation with ATSDR, establish a medical registry and conduct long-term health surveillance for residents exposed to PCBs, as mandated by CERCLA §104(i)(9).

Education of Healthcare Providers: Disseminate information related to the health effects of PCBs to local healthcare professionals and the public, as required by CERCLA §104(i)(14) through the coordination with other agencies.

Improved Air Monitoring and Timely Notifications: Implement real-time air monitoring and provide timely notifications to residents about potential PCB exposure spikes.

Incorporation of New Scientific Research: Consider and incorporate recent scientific studies into risk assessments and remediation plans.

I am not sure how we have gotten to a place where Pittsfield MA, a city that is one of, if not THE MOST PCB polluted places IN THE WORLD has absolutely ZERO medical support for this and has had no preventive care, but this needs to be fixed immediately. I am currently watching a close family friend who is 33 die of brain cancer, a close family friend in her 60s battling triple negative breast cancer, at least 5 other people I know personally battling breast cancer, many with lupus, alopecia, parkinsons, and other severe cognitive issues.

If you need me to send my full complaint again please let me know. I look forward to your quick response and action. Thank you on behalf of an entire community."

Thank you for all of your support and speaking up for your community!
