Dear supporters,

First of all, thank you. Because of you, this petition has now grown to nearly 3,700 signatures. That is a massive statement from the residents of North East Somerset and Hanham that we will not accept being left voiceless in Westminster.

I am writing to give you an important update on what has been happening behind the scenes.

For the past month, I have been repeatedly pressing Dan Norris’s office, formally presenting this petition and demanding a substantive answer to one very simple question: How can you actively represent us when you are suspended from your party and banned from entering the Parliamentary estate?

After initially ignoring our follow-ups, Mr Norris finally replied this week. Rather than addressing our very real constitutional concerns about his reliance on proxy voting and his inability to advocate for us in person, he offered a complete brush-off.

His official response to the 3,700 of us demanding his resignation was to state:

"I’m afraid my correspondence to you today is going to be as equally disappointing to you as my previous replies... In the circumstances it would seem that we are going to have to agree to disagree on this matter."

When I replied to note for the public record that he was deliberately refusing to address the democratic deficit his ban has created, he replied again simply to reiterate his dismissive stance.

This is unacceptable. Democratic representation is not something we can simply "agree to disagree" on. We either have an MP who can walk into the House of Commons to fight for our local funding and resolve our issues, or we don’t. Right now, we don’t.

What happens next?
Because Mr Norris has explicitly closed the door on constituent dialogue, I have escalated this matter further:

  • The Party Bosses: I have officially forwarded his refusal to engage to the Labour Chief Whip’s office and the Leader of the House of Commons. The party hierarchy is now fully aware that he is dismissing his constituents.
  • The Press: I have handed the complete email trail over to local and national journalists, including the BBC, Bristol Live, and GB News. We are turning up the public pressure.

How you can help right now: Email the MP
Mr Norris is hoping we will just go away. Let’s prove him wrong. I am asking all 3,700 of you to email his office directly to ask how he plans to represent you.

However, a crucial request: We must remain completely respectful of the ongoing judicial process. Mr Norris is innocent until proven guilty, and our campaign is strictly about the democratic deficit caused by his suspension and parliamentary ban—not the nature of the allegations. Abusive emails or defamatory speculation will only harm our campaign and give his office an excuse to ignore us.

Please use the safe, factual template provided below to ensure our message remains professional and undeniable:

Subject: Constituent Concern: Active Representation in Parliament

Dear Mr Norris,

As a constituent of North East Somerset and Hanham, I am writing to express my deep concern regarding our current lack of active representation in Westminster.

I fully respect the judicial process and the legal principle of innocent until proven guilty regarding your ongoing investigation. However, my concern is strictly democratic. Because of your suspension from the Labour Party and your ban from the Parliamentary estate, you are unable to physically attend Parliament, advocate for us in person, or participate in committees.

Relying on a proxy vote is not an acceptable long-term substitute for an active, present Member of Parliament.

I am asking for a direct response on how you intend to effectively advocate for this constituency while you are banned from entering Parliament, and whether you will consider resigning to allow a by-election so we can have full representation.

Yours sincerely,

Finally, please continue to share this petition on your local community Facebook groups, WhatsApp chats, and with your neighbours.

Thank you for standing up for our constituency. I will keep you posted as soon as the media responds.

Best regards,

Andrew Gray
